Associate Director/ Technical Director – public sector

Owing to the continued success of our clients Transport Planning team (Birmingham) they are looking to recruit an Associate Director/Technical Director to lead and develop their public sector offering.


A specialist design practice with an integrated approach to Transport, Placemaking and Engineering. Their holistic approach ensures both innovative and deliverable design solutions and supports their vision to create better places through good design. They have recently been appointed on a number of Frameworks including the Birmingham City Council transport and highways framework, and this is a fantastic opportunity to play a pivotal role in the growth and aspirations of the public sector offering in the region.

The successful candidate will:

Lead and grow a team of highly skilled transport planners through both staff development and recruitment.
Act as Project Director to ensure that projects are delivered effectively and to a high standard.
Establish long term relationships with existing and new public sector clients.
Lead on public sector business development and bidding activities, to fit within the wider business plan for transport planning in the Midlands.

The ideal candidate will have considerable proven experience in transport planning with substantial involvement in public sector projects. Experience of acting as Framework Manager/Director on public sector frameworks, as well as experience of working with public sector clients in the Midlands would also be highly beneficial.

They will also have a broad skills base in:

Transport Policy and Strategy
Active Travel
Scheme Appraisal
Public Transport
Funding Bids and Business Cases
Travel Demand Management
