Senior/ Principal Transport Planning Consultant

A specialist transport planning consultancy with five offices across the UK. Their work shapes how people move within new developments – from neighbourhood masterplans to ports, urban regeneration projects, and even Ryder Cup-standard golf courses.

This is an exciting time to be a transport planner.  With changing travel behaviour, decarbonisation goals, and a stronger focus on placemaking and sustainable travel.  As a Consultant, you’ll play a key role in delivering innovative, evidence-based solutions that respond to these challenges and help shape the next generation of communities.

We are looking for enthusiastic and experienced candidates with around three to eight years' experience in transport development planning, either in consultancy or a local authority.

Applicants should have:

• A good understanding of the principles of transport planning
• Good presentation and technical writing skills
• An ability to manage their own time to meet project deadlines
• An ability to work with other consultancies in multi-discipline teams on development projects including residential, commercial, retail, and leisure developments
• An ability to project manage smaller and medium sized projects Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Experience in preparing and reviewing technical documents, including - Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, Environmental Statement Chapters
• Experience building, running and understanding the outputs of Junctions 10 and LinSig software
• Knowledge of highway design in MfS, DMRB, LTN1/20 and the requirements of Active Travel England and Healthy Streets
• An ability to pursue business development opportunities and building client relationships
• Supporting in negotiations, and attending meetings, with Highway Authorities
• Experience in preparing fee proposals for new projects and budget management
• Inspiring, developing, and mentoring less-experienced members of staff
• TPS/CIHT/CILT Membership The role provides an opportunity for candidates to be involved in a number of diverse development related transport projects, varying in scale and nature ensuring an interesting workload.
