Highways Engineer - Principal
Hampshire, London, Manchester

Seeking an enthusiastic Principal Highway Designer with a minimum of 5 years’ design experience (in highway design) to join a growing team and assist in delivering development planning projects across the country.

The role will involve:

• Preparing preliminary stage highway link and junction designs, active travel corridors, and traffic calming schemes;
• Producing swept path analysis and vehicle tracking;
• Input into technical reports including site access appraisals, Stage 1 Road Safety Audit briefs and Designer’s Responses and S278 Preliminary Design Check Submissions;

Applicants should have a minimum of 5 years in the use of AutoCAD and desirably have:

• Experience in the use of Civil3D;
• Good knowledge of highway design guidance including MfS, DMRB, and LTN 1/20;
• Proficient in the use of the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions and Traffic Signs Manual;
• Experience of S278/S38 Agreements;
• Knowledge of SPONS Civil Engineering and Highway Works;
• Knowledge of traffic modelling and its influence on highway design;
• Professional qualifications, i.e. EngTech / IEng / CEng; and
• CE / CIHT / CILT membership.

The role provides an opportunity for candidates to be involved in a number of diverse development-related transport projects, varying in scale and nature, ensuring an interesting workload.
