Transport Planner / Senior Transport Planner

Seeking a full-time Transport Planner or Senior Transport Planner for Manchester transport planning team based in Manchester.

Offering a challenging and rewarding career working for a leading consultancy with a strong presence in the North West. You will join a growing team delivering a wide variety of interesting projects for clients in the private and public sectors.

Responsibilities:

Clients typically include housing and commercial developers, local authorities, highway authorities, architects, town-planners and other professionals.

Your work will primarily be development-related transport planning and will include the preparation of Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, transport chapters for environmental impact assessment, and other development-related transport reports. You will also help mentor and support junior staff and be proactive in keeping up to date with current practices, guidelines etc. in our field. You will undertake site visits and attend meetings as required. The role will also involve some client liaison, such as attending meetings and assisting with winning work through preparing fee proposals. Full support will be provided on a day-to-day basis by an experienced transport planning professional.

Requirements:

A keen, progressive and versatile individual with a genuine interest in transport consultancy. You will have approximately 2-5 years’ experience working in the industry and your experience will ideally include:

• Experience of producing Transport Assessments and Travel Plans.
• Experience of analysing, collating and interpreting data.
• Knowledge of highway design principles relevant to site access design.
• An ability to use AutoCAD and GIS software.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Experience of software packages such as TRICS, Junction 10 and LinSIG.
• Previous UK work experience.
• An understanding of the UK planning process and how your work fits into that.
• Some experience of developing and maintaining client relationships would be advantageous.

• Ability to produce clear, precise and coherent analysis, reports and drawings

• Knowledge of the application of transport modelling software.

Preferred Qualifications

• Degree or Masters in a relevant subject (e.g. transport planning, civil engineering, geography).
• Professional Accreditation, such as CIHT, CILT, TPP, CIHT or ICE.
