About The Role
This role is for a full-time Transport Planning Engineer / Senior Transport Engineer, located in Farringdon, with flexibility for hybrid working. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience in transport planning and design to take the next step in their career, working across a wide range of projects across the UK. Please note, this is not a detailed design/infrastructure engineer role. You will play a key role is delivering high quality technical inputs across projects, helping to shape transport strategies and infrastructure that support sustainable, accessible and well-connected places.
Key responsibilities are likely to include:
- Review and assess site layouts to ensure safe and efficient access and movement.
- Design highway infrastructure including priority ‘t’ junctions, right-turn lanes, roundabouts and signal junctions.
- Contribute and input into Transport Assessments, Transport Statements and other planning submission documents.
- Undertake traffic modelling using Junctions 10; experience with LinSig is desirable but not essential.
- Use TRICS and TEMPro to assess trip generation and future year growth.
- Set up and configuration of traffic flow diagrams to support modelling, transport assessments and design work.
- Provide technical input into CAD based work and swept path analysis.
- Liaise with clients, local authorities and other stakeholders, including attending meetings and workshops alongside project managers
- Check and review technical work and drawings, produced by junior staff and technicians to ensure accuracy and quality.
- Provide mentoring, guidance and on the job training to junior team members, supporting their technical development and professional growth.
About You
You should:
- Hold a keen interest in transport planning topics, including active travel, healthy streets, placemaking, spatial planning, junction improvement/mitigation, transport modelling/appraisal etc.
- Demonstrate experience in transport planning and infrastructure design within a consultancy or similar environment.
- A good understanding of Manual for Streets, Design Manual for Roads and Bridges, and general understanding of national and regional highway layout guidance.
- Be proficient in AutoCAD and AutoTracks, with experience of Stage 1 junction design, Right Turn Lanes, Roundabouts and Signal Controlled Junctions.
- Ideally proficient at using Junctions 10 (ARCADY & PICADY), TRICS, TEMPro, and Microsoft Office (particularly Excel for the creation of traffic flow diagrams).
- Ideally, but not essential, an understanding of LinSig and GiS
- Ideally an understanding of relevant planning policies and guidance (e.g. NPPF, DfT guidance, local transport plans).
- Be confident in communicating technical information clearly.
- Be proactive, organised and able to manage your own workload to meeting deadlines.
- Possess problem-solving skills and the ability to consider transport impacts.
- Be commercially aware, understanding how your work contributes to the overall project success.
- Be collaborative and enjoy working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
