A market leader in the preparation of technical evidence to support the ambitions of the development industry and local authorities. Undertaking technical assessments and providing strategic planning advice covering issues related to local economic development, housing need, demographics and masterplans/ urban regeneration. Working with a range of clients including landowners, developers and local authorities.

The role will support the continued growth of the team and on a day-to-day basis, key activities will include:

 Undertaking research and analysis on a range of topics including:
  •  Local planning policy and strategy
  • Economic and socio-economic trends/ characteristics
  • Residential and commercial property markets
  • Social and economic impact assessments
- Assisting senior members of the team with report writing (Microsoft Word) and data analysis (Microsoft Excel); and leading on the drafting of discrete elements of the work from early on in the process through to completion

- Engaging with a range of stakeholders including local authority officers, community groups, businesses, statutory consultees and other service providers and bodies

- Providing wider support to the Economics Team – and on occasion, the Strategic Planning Team - when required

- Attending site visits and client meetings (which have traditionally been hosted in various locations across England)

- Providing support at project/ client meetings including by recording detailed project notes for circulation to the client team and inputting to presentation of research findings

- Drafting and reviewing Local Plan representations and assisting with technical responses on behalf of clients

- Liaising with and maintaining good relationships with colleagues, clients and fellow professionals

- Keeping informed about relevant national policies and best practice in the fields of planning, housing policy and local economic development. This may involve attending external events for training and marketing

- Monitoring trends and emerging issues, designing and conducting studies on urban economies and their performance and preparing reports

- Organise own time with general guidance from senior staff

- Take responsibility for quality of own work, and consider ways of improving work processes
