Job title:   Transport Modeller

Location:  Birmingham

Rate:         £30,000 - £35,000 per annum

Term:        Permanent

Job Summary:

Our client, a well-respected consultancy with offices throughout the UK, is looking for a Transport Modeller to join their office in Birmingham. The Birmingham Team leads on microsimulation work taken from other offices as well as having a strong pipeline of their own projects. The ideal candidate will have experience in GIS and VBA along with experience in a transport planning or modelling environment. This is an excellent opportunity to join a company that supports its employees and offers a selection of interesting projects.

Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

Provide assistance to the Birmingham team working on a range of projects for both the public and private sector.

• Assist in both transport modelling and the analysis and presentation of results.
• Manage own work and continue to learn new techniques and software packages.
• Preparing technical reports and proposals for clients.
• Attending meetings and communicating with clients, internal and external.
• Assist with assessing client requirements for modelling and related tasks.

Qualifications / Experience:

• A degree level education (or equivalent) in a related discipline (engineering, mathematics, transport planning, etc.)
• Experience in GIS and some VBA and ideally some exposure to transport modelling software packages.
• Knowledge of VISSIM and/or Paramics would be an advantage.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and good report writing abilities.
• Able to liaise between offices within the company and with clients.
• A desire to work within the transport industry long term
